No Man’s Sky Dev Speaks about the Possibility of a Paid DLC Despite Previous Statement

Sean Murray, one of the main developers of “No Man’s Sky”, said that they might be releasing paid DLCs in the near future. This was said after his previous remark about the game getting free DLCs as opposed to paid ones.

According to Murray, if they want the game to progress even further, they might have to charge for the release of new content because they will need money to further fund the game’s development.

Although at this time, Murray didn’t disclose any information about any updates and for what’s to come to the game. They are still currently focusing on ironing out some of the game’s main issues first.

Murray, in the same interview, said that there is a possibility that the game will be released on the Xbox One but that he didn’t say the exact time frame or when it will be released on the said platform.

Now, what Murray said is actually quite good not only for the company but also for the players. Yes, they might ask people for their money for future updates but those kinds of updates are hefty.

Take Fallout 4, for example. They’ve released a couple of paid DLCs but players are not complaining. That is because in every paid DLC that Bethesda releases, it is sure to be a damn good one; complete with all of the new stuff and features that every Fallout 4 player could ever want.

Now, No Man’s Sky is actually quite a good game despite its post-launch problems. In fact, it is one of the most successful game launches in 2016 thus far.

The Playstation 4 port of the game didn’t suffer as many bugs than the PC version. What people do not like is the PC port of the game where they were met with a lot of bugs including, but not limited to, game stuttering issues, infrequent lags, freezes, and a host of other things.

Sean Murray did say after the game’s launch that he and his team are going to fix all of the major problems in the game, so there’s something to look forward to.

But, I just want to go back to the main gist of the topic really quick. Game developers can charge players for money if they decide to release feature rich DLC updates.

That is because it takes an insane amount of time and resources to be able to deliver these contents.

Yes, Murray did say that the game will be receiving free updates but, and I quote, there “might be instances in the future where we might have to charge players for updates”.

If you are fans of the game, then you know that the game developers would also need the money to fund and improve the game even more.

On the brighter side, Murray and his team are now working on a new patch update that will fix the bugs that are currently plaguing the game.

No Man’s Sky is available on the PC and on the Playstation 4 game console.
